When a student joins a college, the institute makes it a point to remind them that it is the students’ responsibility to make the most of their time there, as the institution will remain as it is long after they graduate.  However, it is also to be kept in mind that these students are also the ambassadors of their alma mater. Hence, it is very important to properly mold them and look beyond the money matters. One such institution that aims to maintain mutually beneficial partnerships with the alumni, industry, and professional associations is M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering.

M.Kumarasamy College of Engineering (MKCE), established in the year 2000 by M.Kumarasamy Health and Educational Trust, has earned a remarkable position in the field of technical education through the untiring efforts of the visionary management, competent faculty members, and stupendous students. NAAC accredited, MKCE is one of the few institutions in the country that strives to offer matchless engineering education. “MKCE is an inspirational place to study where modern, flexible system of education ranging from class room to laboratories, library to auditorium, hostels to cafeteria, and sports to entrepreneurship are of state-of-the-art quality. MKCE laboratories and other facilities are amongst the best in the region, making it one of the most sought- after institutions by parents and students alike,” says Thiru. M. Kumarasamy, Chairman, MKCE.

Seamlessly Integrating Technology with Textbook

MKCE, ensures that the depth of the subject knowledge increases day-by-day in order that it positively reflects on the skills that the employers value most, such as analytical, problem solving, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Currently, MKCE offers the following courses: B.E in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering,  Mechanical Engineering; B.Tech – Information Technology; Master of Business Administration; Master of Computer Applications; and M.E in Communication Systems, Computer Science and Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, and VLSI Design. MKCE houses a team of 27 professors, 69-associate professors and 168 assistant professors, with a collective of 52 Ph.D qualifications. “Our staff members are committed to ensuring the highest quality of education and providing a satisfying and rewarding learning experience to the students,” says Dr. K. Enabling students to experience the very best of the industry, MKCE have signed various memorandum of understand, such as MoU with Ladder Survey Institute of Technology for training students in advanced surveying in Total Station and MoU with TNPCB (Tamil Nadu Pollution control Board) for “Continuous Ambient Air quality monitoring station”. As a result of this MoU, MKCE gets to evaluate the air quality of Karur district periodically. The air quality data generated from the stations are utilized by MKCE for source apportionment studies, after which they suggest necessary action plans by using air monitoring models. The suggested action plans from MKCE are then sent periodically to TNPCB. MKCE ensures that the students are given the best opportunity to assimilate the education that they are provided with. To this extend, MKCE has introduced choice-based learning system and technology enabled classroom interaction. The entire MKCE campus is enabled with 500 MBPS Wi-Fi facility. MKCE’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell

At MKCE, innovation and entrepreneurship is held at paramount importance. To this extend, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) at the institute identifies the students who are passionate in the field of entrepreneurship. Once a feasible idea is provided by the student, IEDC looks into the various aspects pertaining to commercialization of that particular idea in the form of viable business. Also, the IEDC cell organizes several programs such as Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp, Innovative Idea Contest, Workshop, Idea Screening Camp by inviting experts from Premier colleges, Universities, and Eminent personalities from industries as well. A testament to the phenomenal support and assistance of IEDC is Soundar. B, Karthikeyan. S, and Sugunesh. R who have won cash award of Rs. 5 lakhs in Tamil Nadu Students Innovators 2017 (TNSI2017) in Forge fellows – Startup Activation Program “ Boot Camp ” at Forge Accelerator – KCT Tech Park, Coimbatore.

Moving forward, M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering intends to continue motivating its faculty and students to file more patents, and supporting incubatees who are capable to shape tomorrow’s technologies and industry trends.
