However a select few have made it to the top and Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) is one such institute. SIMS has left no stone unturned to ensure that the students get maximum exposure to the industry during the course of the study. One of the best practices of the Institute is that every student is mapped according to their skill sets and trained towards achieving their innate potential. Realizing that every student is different, SIMS introduced ‘The Campus Management System’ that allows the faculty to have detailed information about a student at their finger-tips, thus allowing greater interventions towards students requiring special attention. SIMS is one of the few institutes where the Feedback and Feed-forward mechanism works in perfect synchronization.

Regularly Updating the Syllabus
SIMS believes that it is not only important to make the subject of Management interesting to students; but it is also important to stay relevant and professional in nature. Hence, every year, SIMS ushers in new changes into the syllabus. SIMS’ MBA programs teach versatility, adaptability, and a capability to think holistically. The program is infused with creativity so as to create a “Frugal Mind-sets” among the student community. SIMS believes that in the days to come, these young managers will have to find ways of satisfying markets in the most resourceful manner. “There is a not a single dull day at SIMS!” adds the Director. “New ideas keep emerging; experimenting and risk-taking is encouraged, failures are guided through and learning is a part of the Institute. This is true both with the faculty and the students.”

Often, the true testimony to an institute’s success is their students, and SIMS takes immense pride in its excellent alumnae. Leveraging the institute’s successful alumni members, SIMS ensures regular interactions with them and the present students through ‘Alumni Mentor Concept’. Similarly, ‘My first 100 days at workplace’ is a popular talk among the graduating students, where the alumni share some ground realities of what to expect at workplace and how students should focus on the right jobs.

The faculty members at SIMS are a group of highly committed, self-driven role models who have mastered the art of perfectly blending industry practices with academics. With an average experience of over 15 years of teaching and industry experience, SIMS faculty bring a rich exposure of research into the classroom. Also, new pedagogies are experimented from time to time in order to make learning fun and informative. One of the teaching methodologies that SIMS incorporates is Business simulation, which is exclusively developed for SIMS students. This method of teaching not only helps them to understand the concepts better, but also gives them in-depth insights into decision making and the purpose behind holistic thinking in strategies of business.

Collaborating itself with several industry associations like ASSOCHAM, KASSIA, and FKCCI, SIMS provides its students great exposure through several forums. Moreover, SIMS houses ISETILAB, the incubation wing of the campus. The lab is the go-to place for students to share their creative ideas that could lead to the creation of ventures. SIMS also houses an Incubation centre, Skill development centre as well as the Student Chapter of National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) of Karnataka.

Moving forward, SIMS wishes to add more courses to its existing program. Working toward the same, SIMS has already made collaborative arrangements with Grimsby Institute (United Kingdom) for a Taster programme for SIMS’ MBA students. Moreover, several tie-ups have been envisaged with industry experts to ensure that the students get hands-on learning along with academic inputs at the institute.

Meet the Director
Dr. Bhavani M R completed her Ph.D in Strategic Marketing from Shivaji University, Kolhapur and completed three levels of Proficiency course in Strategy and International Business from Strategic Management Forum and IIM-Kozhikode. Actively involved in the Research activities as the head the Research Centre of Tumkur University, Dr. Bhavani have over 16years of experience in the education space. Moreover, she has worked as a Research Associate for the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, USA for a brief period, and is also a visiting faculty for the MBA students of the University of Central Oklahoma, USA and University of Chester, UK.
