Shri Shishir Jaipuria, Chairman of Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions is a happy man today. His illustrious father Dr. Rajaram Jaipuria, had established the Jaipuria School of Business in 2008. The visionary in him could foresee India at the turn of the century, as the fastest growing economy of the World by 2020. He felt, India would need in future lot many competent managers than it ever had. A great Industrialist and textile tycoon of his time, Dr Jaipuria had deep interest in philanthropy, which propelled him to take forward the legacy of his grandfather Seth Anandram Jaipuria and father Padma Bhushan Seth Mangturam Jaipuria, to build new schools and colleges for higher education throughout his life.

Committed to provide the best teaching-learning environment, a sprawling 6-acre Jaipuria campus in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, has world class infrastructure, equipped with fully air-conditioned classrooms, lecture theaters, seminar rooms, conference and convention centers, and a unique Lab for developing the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation. The entire campus is ergonomically furnished and Wi-Fi enabled with high speed internet. The Library boasts of the latest books and journals in Management including subscriptions to the best on-line library resources.

Meeting Industry Requirements Since 2008

The institute has been meeting the dynamic changes that the environment of Business in the Industry 4.0 era has been posing.  Human intelligence is vastly augmented by machine learning and the new buzz words going around are Artificial Intelligence, IOT and Robotics. “For every manager it has now become important to understand the applications of Machine Learning, AI, Internet of Things, Block Chain Technology, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, 3D Printing, and Design Thinking”, opines Dr SK Mahapatra, Director of Jaipuria School of Business. For this very reason, the mentors at Jaipuria believe that the right aptitude for learning and mastering the ABCD of the knowledge era, is the first step to scale greater heights and therefore the Institute strives to nurture managers who are appreciative of emerging technologies, innovative, creative, and adaptive to continual changes in the business environment besides being competitive and risk takers. To this extent, the Center for Advanced Data Analytics at Jaipuria School of Business takes special care to familiarize all students with the application of the emerging technologies and practice their application in a simulated environment.

In-house Centers of Excellence

Jaipuria sports five centers of excellence which act as laboratories of practice. These laboratories prepare students for the future. The focus of these centers are upon five key talents for becoming successful managers in 21st Century. These are the Centres for, “Creativity & Innovation”, “Change & Development”, “Diversity & Inclusiveness”, “Advanced Data Analytics”, and “Leadership Excellence”. The institute further ensures that the faculty team is well-trained to seamlessly integrate technology into the pedagogy, through means such as on-line live streaming of information from the internet, joining the MOOC courses for skilling up, business simulation, assignment, and evaluation. There is an Innovation Lab at the Institute to kindle the budding entrepreneurs.

Besides, the Computer Centre is equipped with Language lab and latest simulation software for learning the skills and nuances of business management. The students at Jaipuria are also exposed to a number of live projects at Business Centers, and are provided an opportunity to work in factories, sales counters, stock markets, and at various other BFSI offices on short internships.

The Corporate Relations and Placement Committee (CRC) is handled by a team of experienced faculty assisted by a team of high-energy student-volunteers. The CRPC coordinates the entire gamut of Placement and Summer-Internship Placement related activities on campus, from pre-placement talks by prospective recruiters until the final placement of each student. However, the relationship with corporate sector starts much earlier as the Campus hosts a plethora of seminars, conclaves and Round Tables inviting Industry Leaders throughout the year. The Jaipuria National and International Conferences see large number of delegates from the corporate sector.

Recruiter’s Haven

Thanks to CRC, the students also get to participate in short duration live projects and the 8-Week Summer Internship Project, thereby getting hands-on exposure to realities of a career in Industry. Recruiters prefer Jaipuria because they know that the institute puts its students through a rigorous grooming process. “We assess the potential of each student using scientific tools and develop them in their areas of natural interest and strength. We condition their mind to focus on the job-interview, as the means to attain the future they have dreamt of”, says MsSweety Singh, Head of CRC. The CRC conduct lots of preparatory interview sessions to develop confidence, good communication skills, and to inculcate values of honesty, sincerity and hard work, and also to develop the right acumen for facing selection tests and interviews successfully. No wonder, the full-campus placement record has already hit a hatrick in 2019.

Shaping Future Leaders with Humanitarian Values

The students of Jaipuria not only acquire their managerial skills in campus but also learn values of a compassionate citizen through humanitarian services working with NGOs. The students perform street-plays at public places like the Habitat Centre, to drive home good messages for the society and raise public awareness on sensitive issues requiring a paradigm shift in our collective mind. The Jaipuria students celebrate public festivals like Holi, Diwali, Lohri with the underprivileged sections of the Society. These are just to give a glimpse of the many innovative ways we follow for training our students for future. “We develop future managers with a sharp acumen for business and soft heart for the society and environment,” says DrTimira Shukla, Dean of Academics.

A Team of Academic Excellence with Managerial Experience

The Core faculty of the Jaipuria B-School has a rich blend of faculty with outstanding teaching and research credentials, and faculty with considerable managerial experience and corporate leadership roles. Many of the Faculties are alumnus of topmost B-Schools in India like IIMA, MDI and FMS, and some of them have held CEO and CXO level positions in Corporate Sector. Despite having outstanding core faculties, the institute ensures that every course is taught in a collaborative manner, by bringing in practitioners from corporate business to the classroom for direct interaction with students, thereby cementing the theoretical understanding.

Besides, the class is also taken out to the open field for learning. As an integral part of pedagogy, the students are assigned short duration live projects to go and work in the shop floor alongside real managers. These exposures are evaluated, and students get credit for good performance.

To better understand the students, Jaipuria undertakes a formal assessment of every student at their time of joining, through a psychometric test. The institute interviews each student and identifies the areas of strength and room for improvement. The faculty mentors are the first point of contact for personal feedback, counseling, and improvement tracking. Each teaching faculty is given a brief about each student before formal commencement of the teaching. This helps the faculty to pay personalized attention to specific students who need more attention and help in a class.

The Unique Mentoring System

Jaipuria follows a two-tier mentoring system. Each student is mentored by one academic faculty. Each Faculty is also mentored by a reputed International Faculty with significant teaching experience abroad. The Faculty mentoring program is unique to JSB.

The mentors help the mentee to realize their potential and help achieve their goals. The most important role of the mentor is to awaken the power of self-belief and establish an emotional connect with the mentee to accept the mentor’s guidance. The student-mentees are assigned group tasks and solo assignments with the clear objective to mend the weak areas and reinforce their strong areas. The Faculty-Mentor also helps the student in connecting with Industry Leaders for getting double mentoring benefit.

Each student is assigned a faculty mentor for a specific term and the Dean reviews the progress of each student with their respective mentors. Some mentees are reassigned to different mentors after each term as per the need and situation.

Staying True to Its Vision

Jaipuria prefers to let its actions speak for itself. In a short span of only a decade, Jaipuria School of Business has successfully placed all its students who have passed through the gates of the academy in their cherished jobs, and all alumni are doing well not only for themselves, but also for the society. Jaipuria was founded with the moral vision to develop managers who foster a mindset of ‘Giving’, and testimonies prove that the institute is living up to this vision.

While most of the alumni have joined corporate giants, there are a few who have turned entrepreneurs and job-givers like Amil Hussain Siddique, who has established the “Dream International School” in Dehradun. Amil is already making a difference to the society by providing affordable education in English medium to less privileged people. He is living his dream and has made his almamater proud.

Awards and Accolades

Jaipuria School of Business has received, in 2018, the ICCI Award for being the Best Emerging Business School in India, the CEGR Award for being the Best Management College in North India for Placement and the FWA Award for Excellence in International Collaboration. Jaipuria has also received, the prestigious APETA Award as the Best Institute for Academic Excellence in India, 2019.

Meet the Director

Dr SK Mahapatra, Director Jaipuria School of Business has adorned many hats in his long and distinguished career as an academic and as a corporate leader. Alumnus of Hindu College, and a post graduate top-ranker of Delhi University, he started his career as an academic 36 years ago before moving on to Corporate. He studied Management at MDI and received his doctoral degree from Utkal. In his corporate career, he held many leadership roles in public and private sectors.  He was the Head HR of the largest FDI Project in India, has been the Group Ethics Officer of a large Steel & Power conglomerate and was President of Bajaj Power prior to taking over the leadership role at Jaipuria. He has also been a Professor in the middle of his career at one of India’s top B-Schools.

Dr Mahapatra has been leading Jaipuria School of Business with a mission to transform management education in India, with a future-focused vision of building sustainable prosperity for all. Dr Mahapatra is the recipient of the RashtriyaShikhya Gaurav Puraskar, 2018 and he was felicitated as one of the Most influential HR Leaders of India in 2017 at the 25th World HRD Congress in Mumbai.
