Dev SanskritiVishwavidyalaya has a core vision of uniting contemporary education with spiritual training to cultivate well-rounded, competent and personally uplifted graduates, who possess a scientifically grounded understanding and experience of spiritual transformation and a powerful drive to use their gifts to promote the greater good of the society. The Vishwavidyalaya strives hard towards, achieving success in their mission towards – ‘A University for the Global, Cultural and Spiritual Renaissance’, with a confluence of traditional education with science and spirituality.
The motto of the university is also to create devoted, righteous and learned students, who have scientific spirituality infused into their lifestyles. The students passing out from Dev Sanskriti University turn into well-endowed citizens of India with nationalistic ideas and inspiring future leaders by developing human values and oneness towards fellow human beings irrespective of the gender, caste or color.
The seeds of the Dev Sanskriti University were sown when Kulmata, Bhagwati Devi Sharma recognized the divine samskaras (spiritual vibrations) of this place. Her Holiness Vandaniya Mata Ji felt the diving spiritual energy of this awakened land, during SharaddhanjaliSamaroh organized in 1990, the land was purchased henceforth and the construction of the institute began on May 1999. The institute gained the status of ‘Dev SanskritiMahavidyalaya’ based on an act passed by the state legislature. The University is recognized by University Grand commission, India and accredited by NAAC.
Teaching and the Teachers at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya
At Dev SanskritiVishwavidyalaya, academics are very unconventional which consists of advocating and upholding the fundamental values of Indian Culture with the aim of global culture and spiritual renaissance. The teaching also includes a high standard of ethics and quality in research and administration. It is the replica of the Gurukul system that prevailed in India till recent times, with value of Guru-Shishyaparampara revisited yet again, with relevance to current times.
Dr. Chinmay Pandya, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, when questioned about how important a Guru is for a Shishya and what special qualities the faculties or the Gurus withhold at the Vishwavidyalaya, he confidently answered saying – “The Teachers operate with a single cause of contributing towards the society and are driven by self-discipline”.In addition, he also added – “The Teachers at the Vishwavidyalaya hold incredible human values and virtues”.
Dr. Pandya concluded saying, that the people who are driven towards becoming teachers at Dev SanskritiVishwavidyalaya have a strong motive behind giving back to the society and not to forget, have a strong and a successful Academic career behind them. The total number of faculty members operating, including the teaching and the non-teaching staff sum up to 350 and the numbers keep growing offering quality education to all the students studying at the Vishwavidyalaya.
The courses the university has to offer are very conventional, yet with a spin of spirituality and scientific temper. There are undergraduate, post-graduate and post-doctoral programs available, in a wide array of subjects such as Yoga and Human Consciousness, Psychology, Indian History and Culture, Theology, Computer Science and Application, Animation, Holistic Health, Tourism, Mathematics, and the list goes on and on in Dev SanskritiVishwavidyalaya’s pursuit of delivering quality education and learning to one and all. Dr. Pandya elaborated on this point saying – “The University specializes in the character development of its students” and this he added is done by – “Fostering an uplifting lifestyle based on the spiritual practices of the east and the west”. The result of this is providing the society with well-rounded and dynamic graduates who channel their skills towards serving the needs of the society and the world.

A Gold Medalist in (MD) Medicine, Dr. Pranav,Pandya, qualified for US medical services in 1975. However inspired by his Guru serr-sage Pandit Shri Ram Sharma Acharya, he gave up the lucrative offer and stayed in India for an altruistic cause. A multi-faceted overachiever, Dr. Pranav has a lot,of accolades and honors accredited to his name the,most prominent one being when he was Honoured by National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) the world-famous American space center in 1996 as a distinguished scientist and reformer for worldwide dissemination of scientific aspects of Indian Culture. Being the Editor at Akhand Jyoti, Dr.Pranav relished his literary side as well. As a futurist, he is not only optimistic about a bright future for humankind but also has the,courage of conviction to go any length to achieve his,goals. His untiring efforts manifested into a unique,University of Indian Culture motivates the Dev,SanskritiVishwavidyalaya, to develop and grow on,the lines of ancient Gurukuls of Nalanda and Taxila, by serving the greater good of mankind.
Dr. Chinmay Pandya is the grandson of one of the greatest of scholars, seers, philosophers of recent times in India – Pt. Sriram Sharma Acharya, who was the founder of All World GayatriPariwar fraternity, which has 100 million members and nearly 1000 global centers for social reform.
Following medical studies in India, he trained in the UK, where he gained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych). In London, he rose through the ranks of the British National Health Service and secured the post of Associate Specialist in Older People Services at the West London Mental Health Trust. In this capacity, he managed patients with multiple psychiatric disorders, focusing on the treatment of dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease. He returned to India and DSVV in 2010, heeding an upper calling. Today, Dr. Pandya occupies multiple roles in his life at the University and beyond. As Director of DSVV’s School of Yoga and Health, he leads efforts to analyze and advance the scientific and philosophical understanding of meditation and stress management in contemporary contexts. He is responsible for ethos, academic rigor, and policy implementation at DSVV and his path towards serving the society is never-ending and he aims to do so until his last breath.
At global fronts, as well he holds key position as a Director of the global covenants of religions, which is a UNSC initiative. He also represents several significant bodies formed by ministry of External Affairs of India, Ministry of AYUSH and is serving as the member of jury of the Templeton prize committee. He was also invited by the Ministry of AYUSH to represent the Indian delegation at the UNESCO in 2016 for enlisting YOG as an intangible cultural heritage of India.
