Budget 2022: Key updates for Education sector


The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Budget 2022 today, i.e., February 1, 2022. Regarding the education sector, FM Sitharaman focused on several things; Digital education, creation of a digital university, creation of jobs, agricultural universities, skilling programmers, etc. Therefore, we have summed up major updates regarding the education sector for you.

While presenting the budget for 2022, FM Sitaraman said that a digital university will be developed to provide access to students for world-class quality education with ISTE standards.

She further stressed the creation of 60 lakh jobs.

During her presentation, Sitharaman said the next target of the government is to create 60 lakh jobs. “PM Gati Shakti will pull forward the economy and will lead to more jobs and opportunities for the youth.”

She added that the government will focus on empowering the youth, women, and the poor in the country.

“The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for achieving Aatmanirbhar Bharat has received an excellent response, with the potential to create 60 lakh new jobs and additional production of 30 lakh crore during the next digit five years,” she added.

Nirmala Sitharaman further added that due to Covid-19, many children, mostly in government schools, have lost two years of formal education. Therefore, high-quality e-content will be developed in regional languages for them. The content will be delivered via the internet, mobile phones, TV, and through radio and digital teachers.

The budget also laid emphasis on skilling programmes. FM Sitharaman said that ITIs will start courses on skilling. Further, the Digital DESH e-portal will be launched for the skilling, upskilling & reskilling of the youth.
