Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) declined 74 percent of study permit applications from Indian students in August 2025, showing a steep jump from 32 percent during the same month last year. Out of 4,515 applications filed by Indian students, only 1,196 received approval. This marks a significant fall compared to August 2023, when 20,900 applications were submitted and Indian students represented over one-fourth of all international applicants.
