As part of the Union Budget for 2023-24, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an expansion of medical educational facilities, with a focus on ensuring better skilling. In addition to these measures, the Finance Minister announced that the government will take measures to ensure that special skills are provided in the operation of specialized medical equipment.
“157 new nursing colleges will be established in co-location with the existing 157 medical colleges established since 2014,” Sitharaman announced.
“Dedicated multidisciplinary courses for medical devices will be supported in existing institutions to ensure availability of skilled manpower for future futuristic medical technologies, high end manufacturing and research,” she added.
