The final decision regarding the conduction of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2021 and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2021 is expected to be announced soon by the central government after reviewing the Covid-19 situation.
The JEE Main 2021 April and May sessions have been postponed due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. Several national-level entrance examinations such as NEET PG 2021 and CLAT 2021 also stand deferred due to the pandemic.
The JEE Main 2021 exams were to be conducted on the dates April 27 to 30 and May 24 to 28. The NEET-UG 2021 examination is currently scheduled for August 1, 2021, but students are uncertain about its conduction in view of the current pandemic situation in the country.
Class 12 board exam conduction
A high-level meeting was conducted between the state education secretaries and central government officials yesterday to decide on the conduction of the Class 12 board exams, which have been postponed multiple times for this academic session.
The meeting was attended by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister for Women and Child Smriti Zubin Irani, and Union Minister, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, and state education ministers.
After the meeting, it was announced that the Class 12 board exams would be conducted and the final decision regarding the dates of the exams will be communicated to the students by June, after considering the suggestions of state governments.
It is speculated that after the dates of the Class 12 board exams are announced by the central government, the final decision regarding the conduction of entrance exams such as JEE Main 2021 and NEET UG 2021 will also be announced.
