Delhi High Court Calls Total Smartphone Ban in Schools ‘Undesirable,’ Recommends Regulated Use

The Delhi High Court recently stated that imposing a “complete ban” on students using smartphones in schools is neither practical nor desirable.

Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani, while issuing guidelines for the regulated use of smartphones in schools, emphasized that students should not be prohibited from carrying smartphones but their usage must be controlled and monitored.

The Court suggested that where feasible, schools should arrange for safekeeping of smartphones, requiring students to deposit them upon arrival and collect them when leaving.
