Guidance towards a successful career path, DKTE Society’s Textile & Engineering Institute

Popularly known as the ‘Manchester of Maharashtra’, Ichalkaranji has always been a prominent textile hub with continuous changes and upgradations since the 19th century. However, back in 1980, the textile Industry in Ichalkaranji started growing at a very rapid rate and created an undeniable thrust for a bracket of skilled professionals that can cater to the needs of the evolving industry. Taking the charge to meet this growing requirement, nine co-operative organizations from Ichalkaranji joined the hands together under the leadership of Mr. K. B. Awade (Ex. M.P) in 1981 to form an Education Society, named after Shri Dattajirao Kadam, a veteran leader and an ardent co-operator, who was instrumental in the development of Textile Industry at Ichalkaranji. Carrying the motto of providing technical education in various fields to students from the rural areas of western Maharashtra, Dattajirao Kadam Technical Education Society (DKTE) came into existence.

DKTE Society’s Textile & Engineering Institute is the first institute established by the society which was started with a Diploma course in Textiles with on no grant basis in the State of Maharashtra in the year 1982.
