Additionally, the pioneering M.S. in Unmanned & Autonomous Systems Engineering exemplifies ERAU’s leadership in robotics education.
Redefining Infrastructural Brilliance
ERAU’s student numbers continue to grow and the university strives to improve its facilities to meet the needs of this growing population. This includes construction of new dormitories, student housing and parking facilities at the Daytona Beach campus. Additionally, there are plans to open a state-of-the-art flight training center on the Prescott campus in 2024, alongside various other infrastructure developments. All of these ongoing and future expansion projects are designed to provide students with an innovative, learning environment, comfortable accommodation and a solid foundation for personal and professional development.

Over 160 different labs are available to students at Embry-Riddle’s three locations. Daytona Beach and Prescott have research-supporting laboratories that provide access to industry-standard equipment and can study everything from the biggest stars to the smallest microbes. Both residential campuses have high quality observatories.

Notable laboratories on the Daytona Beach campus include the Space and Atmospheric Measurements Laboratory (SAIL), which has a long history of research and engineering milestones. Additionally, for those more interested in internal exploration, there is the Omics Lab for Aerospace Physiology, along with a Cyber Lab also known as the Hacker Lab on the Prescott campus, a Robertson Aircraft Accident Investigation Laboratory, also known as the “Crash Lab,” and a Virtual Aerial Robotics Lab.

Embry-Riddle is particularly proud of its esteemed faculty who bring industry expertise and experience, and a wide range of over 160 specialized laboratories and facilities. Together, these resources support real-world research initiatives and provide students with an unparalleled hands-on educational experience.

Always a Step Ahead
At Embry-Riddle, all the students and faculty are always on the cutting edge of research, working with all industry partners, government agencies and NGOs to address emerging problems and explore the latest technological advances. Moreover, with dozens of projects running daily throughout the year, the research team offers students the opportunity to experience first-hand the thrill of exploration and the rewards of discovery.

An example is a recent study on space weather, led by researchers at Embry-Riddle, whose results will be published in the journal Nature Communications in May 2023 and will show the seasons of Earth’s magnetic tilt. This study will show to the world that variability and diurnal variability can cause changes toward or away from the Sun. with massive cosmic waves.

An Indian Student Reaching for the Stars
Divyeshwari Vansadia, a native of Surat, Gujarat, India, is pursuing a major in Astronomy and Astrophysics at ERAU. From an early age, Vansadia harbored a deep fascination for the vast wonders of the universe, where her remarkable journey began in 2013 when she embarked on an extraordinary adventure to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

In 2016, Vansadia started analyzing NASA-provided data sets in collaboration with the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC). Her mission was to identify and study asteroids, contributing to the collective efforts of citizen scientists. Vansadia’s dedication and passion led her towards an impressive record of more than 50 preliminary discoveries since 2016. Additionally, she has achieved two provisional discoveries (2020 SS68 and 2020 RM 98), an accomplishment deserving of great pride.

Eventually in 2021, the time had finally arrived when Vansadia had to decide which college she would entrust in her journey towards educational/professional excellence. And this is where Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University caught her eye when researching the US colleges she was accepted to. She also met some of Embry-Riddle’s alumni when she was attending an astrobiology workshop in India, and she learned more about the course program and course design offered at ERAU.

At Embry-Riddle, Vansadia found her place in the astronomy and astrophysics program, where she was encouraged to join the International Students Organization (ISO), and when she did, she found that the organization had room for growth. With an ever-growing community in the International Student Organization, Vansadia says they are able to host more events for international students, connect students with others on campus and assist in practical matters that may be daunting for someone experiencing them for the first time, like travel licenses and insurance.

Driven by her dedication to fostering cultural exchange, facilitating peer support, and ensuring a smooth transition for international students, Vansadia’s commitment to her role in the ISO continues to grow stronger. Her passion for this work resonates in her efforts to provide a platform where students from around the world can share their diverse cultures, forge meaningful connections with their fellow peers, and find a sense of belonging in their new environment.
