Launching on November 18, the M Friends Charitable Trust’s innovative ‘Class on Wheels’ bus is set to bring basic computer education to government schoolchildren in rural areas, particularly in Puttur, Karnataka. The initiative, spearheaded by Mohammed Haneef Puttur, manager of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre Lab in the United Arab Emirates, is a response to his vision of utilizing a Rs 50 lakh reward to empower students in the region.

Mr. Haneef, inspired to support computer literacy, generously donated Rs 50 lakh, while the trust successfully raised an additional Rs 10 lakh for the cause. The newly acquired ‘Class on Wheels’ bus is equipped with 16 laptops, 16 rotating chairs, WiFi, a sound system, a projector, and internet access. This mobile classroom aims to benefit students in government primary schools and the government higher primary school at Kunjuru Panja, Puttur, where Mr. Haneef himself pursued his education.

The trust’s general secretary, Rasheed Vitla, shared that two experienced teachers will conduct 15 hours of fundamental computer education for students in Classes 6 and 7, making education accessible and impactful in the rural landscape.
