The National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently issued a notice which announces that the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (CSIR UGC NET) 2020 has been postponed in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry because of the cyclone Nivar.

The Mathematical Sciences and Chemical Sciences exam has also been postponed in the Union Territory of Puducherry because of the power outage caused by cyclone Nivar.

The notice released by NTA further states that the new dates for the examinations will be issued shortly and all candidates should keep a close eye on the official website of NTA and CSIR UGC NET for all the latest updates.

Cyclone Nivar hit the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry yesterday, causing heavy rains and gushing winds that have disturbed the lives of the citizens. Airports and power have been shut down due to the cyclone.

The CSIR UGC NET 2020 exam is conducted twice every year to determine the eligibility of the candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in various colleges and universities. Those who clear the CSIR UGC NET exam are awarded a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in the faculty of Science.

The dates of the exams were November 19, 21, and 26, 2020 but the last examination has been postponed in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
