“One of the best practices followed in Excel Engineering College is ‘outcome based teaching and learning’. And, to achieve this, innovative teaching-learning methodologies are followed alongside with different pedagogical approaches”, opined Dr. N. Mathan Karthick, the Vice Chairman and secretary of the Excel Group Institutions and the Sri Rengaswamy Educational Trust (SRET) that runs a host of institutions catering to higher education in various streams. Operating as a very vital personality to everyone at Excel Engineering College, Dr. Karthick always wanted to start an engineering hub which was purely meant for aspirants irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds, and thus, Excel Engineering College was founded under the guidance of educational stalwarts who are a part of the governing body of the college.
Adding to his above statement, Dr. Karthick stated – “Our aim is to attain excellence in professional education by continuously improving and updating the skills and resources needed for demand driven-education; imparting training and development by providing excellent infrastructure, and an environment conducive to learning; and proactively responding to the changing needs of industries as well as the expectations from parents, society and the world at large.” Through the conversation, we also learnt that Excel Engineering College also strives towards providing equal opportunities and holistic as well as inclusive education to all.
Being an autonomous institute helps Excel Engineering College to take the creative liberty of integrating most of the theory subjects with laboratory components to enhance practical knowledge. Students are motivated to take up mini projects and case studies and are further facilitated with industrial visits, internships and industrial projects considering the importance of employability. The students are encouraged to take part in extracurricular activities such as seminars, conferences and workshops, and they are made to involve themselves in social activities through various clubs and forums such as NCC, NSS, Fine Arts Club, Leo Club, Rotary Club, Green club, Science Club, Math Club, Trekking Club, Tamil Mandram, English Literary club etc. They are also given opportunities to put up programmes in these clubs that will in turn improve their leadership skills.
