To enhance the success rates of students appearing for the NEET and JEE entrance examinations, the Odisha government has opted to provide online coaching for NEET and JEE to students in classes 11 and 12 who are enrolled in various higher secondary schools within the state. A letter addressing the principals of all government and non-government aided plus-II colleges was issued by Raghuram R Iyer, the Director of Higher Secondary Education, on Wednesday.
The letter stated, “A decision has been made to offer supplementary online coaching to National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) aspirants currently enrolled in government and non-government aided higher secondary schools, with the aim of enhancing their competitive abilities.”
The coaching sessions will be conducted in a virtual format. Consequently, principals of higher secondary schools lacking smart classrooms equipped with interactive panels or smart TVs were instructed to install the necessary systems.
To facilitate this process, Iyer noted that several higher secondary schools have already received assistance for the development of smart classrooms through a scheme implemented by the Planning and Coordination Department. He urged the principals to promptly make the necessary arrangements to install interactive panels or Smart TVs in their respective higher secondary schools.
In instances where a higher secondary school has not received funding for this purpose, the institution is permitted to utilize available funds from the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) account or the Higher Secondary School (HSS) development fund, in accordance with existing guidelines from the finance department, as mentioned in the letter.
