Laid the foundation in 2004 in a rented building in Chennai, Padmashree awardee, Dr. Bala V Balachandran initiated Great Lakes Institute of Management centring the mission of emerging as a Center of Excellence in fostering managerial leadership and entrepreneurship in the development of human capital through quality research, teaching, residential learning, and professional management services. Also, the Professor Emeritus at Kellogg School of Management, Dr. Balachandran since the very early days of the establishment of Great Lakes Institute of Management has been remaining dedicated to imparting quality management education to the student who aspires to achieve big in the business arena. At Great Lakes, Institute of Management students is imparted education by a group of exceptional faculty members who are equally passionate about instilling the best values and skills in the tomorrow’s leaders.

Today, counted amongst India’s leading Business Schools with campuses in Chennai & Delhi-NCR, the institute offers specialized PG executive programme in Management and a two-year full-time PGDM programme (accredited by NBA) keeping a clear focus on emerging economies and their growth. Notably, Great Lakes is the first school to introduce Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as a specialization for the full-time PGPM program. The institute is affiliated to South Asian Quality Assurance System and has achieved the status of being the youngest and the B-School in India receiving AMBA accreditation.
