“Your experience is a learning itself and young entrepreneurs must be ready to take the risk when needed“ stated Ms. Sirisha Voruganti, Managing Director, JP Morgan Chase at the 46th WiseViews Leadership Conversations conducted by ICFAI on March 04, 2022 at 7.30pm. Ms. Sirisha spoke on the topic “Digital Transformation in the Financial World”.
Ms. Sirisha shared many views about the financial sector and how technology is progressing in this field. She shared an interesting fact that finance sector occupies 15% of total work force of the world and that is keep increasing each year. With regard to the transformation, Ms. Sirisha said that “technology has brought in a huge change from early days of inland letters to the present day social media messaging applications like WhatsApp, Instagram, SnapChat and many more”.
Ms. Sirisha stated that “transformation happens at a multi-level, be it at architectural level or at infrastructural and at operational level and huge amount of data is needed to manage each level”. As a matter of fact, 450 PB (peta byte) of data has been transacted so far which is equivalent to 65 trips to the Moon from Earth and back”, she added.
“A lot of importance is given to digital payments and e-commerce now-a-days and everyone has realized the role it played especially in the Covid times” opined Ms. Sirisha. She also observed that “people generally resist to change from the existence systems, but in larger interest of the organization, that change has to be affected”.
Ms. Sirisha also said that there are lot of opportunities that are opening up in the financial sector and the policies implemented by the Government of India are very encouraging. “The students have to acquaint themselves about the latest technologies such as Block Chain and Artificial Intelligence to grab those chances that are on offer in this sector”, she added.
Answering to a query in the Q & A session, Ms. Sirisha said “The educational institutions should also give importance to the present technological situations and train students accordingly which eventually help them to get better placements”.
