WUD in a nutshell
World University of Design (WUD), is India’s first university dedicated to education in the creative domain. The institution highlights the evolution of design from being a pure vocation-oriented to academic-oriented, from certificate & diploma level to degree, postgraduate degrees, research, and doctoral programs. WUD endorses unique teaching pedagogy, advanced interdisciplinary research and international collaborations in the domain of Architecture, Design, Interior, Textile, Communication, Fashion, Fine Arts, Management, and many other design-related courses.
WUD aims at providing a comprehensive design foundation to the students for a glorious path ahead in their professional and personal lives. Students at WUD are reared to become critical thinkers and problem-solvers, enabling them to become trained professionals in whichever field or community they become a part of in the near future.
Started in the year 2018, WUD has witnessed an upward journey. In such a short span, prestigious accolades such as Assocham Award and many more of such accolades were awarded to WUD for its outstanding work. WUD is the youngest university to be awarded the prestigious ERASMUS+ grant for capacity building in Design & Innovation. The academic curriculum at WUD is designed for innovative learning and the teaching is focused on holistic development. The teaching at WUD prepares the students for both achievements and roadblocks in their academic as well as personal lives. The aim is to create long-term learners.
Teaching and the Curriculum at WUD
Providing quality education to their students being the main agenda at WUD, the in-house faculty is their strength and the faculty comprises of a group of eminent teachers across all disciplines, who are qualified from the best institutions of India and the world, such as “FIT” New York, “LCF” London, NID, NIFT to name a few. The faculty is well versed with industry trends and that experience amalgamates well with the teaching modules.
Sanjay Gupta, the VC of WUD stated – “With decades of experience in the industry, the faculty at WUD have hands-on-experience on various path-breaking projects” and he also added – “This is the best our students can have”.
Due to a drastic shift in the design process over the past few years, a lean and efficient learning experience became mandatory. To cope with this change, the faculty at WUD adopted the practical learning approach, which included adopting an immersive, project-based and technology-oriented curriculum close to real-world applications and exposure. WUD also proudly endorses “Campus without walls”, a concept where typical internal and external barriers of current educational model – the rigid division of campuses into departments and programs; the divide between curricular and extra-curricular, between theories and practical, all of these kept aside WUD encourages collaboration across institutional boundaries, creating communities of practice. WUD also specializes in personalized learning, where individual learning and alternate modes of assessment are given importance. This approach is taken towards reaching out to students with different learning speeds and this step enables student mobility across streams and institutions.
Smooth Transition to Professional life
Graduates of design management have a niche carved out for them. Over the years, Design has become an essential aspect of almost every industry and so is the rising demand for qualified design professionals. Throughout the course, students at WUD are trained in best practices in the industry and groomed for professional life. The management and the faculty at WUD aim at providing the students with the smoothest transition from student phase to an employee.
The placement cell at WUD comprises of young and super-energetic individuals, and they make sure that the whole process of getting placed is exciting and profiting. The placement cell has signed MOUs with more than 30 well-known companies and is continually adding new partners.
