Founded in the year 1972 at Janakpuri, Surajmal Memorial Education Society aimed at emulating the great qualities of Maharaja Surajmal with an aim to impart quality education in rural as well as urban areas. Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology started in the year 2001 in affiliation with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. It is approved by AICTE and NBA Accredited in all the streams. It is also NAAC ‘A’ grade accredited and ISO 9001:2015 certified institute.
Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (MSIT) has a campus spread over eight acres of land with beautiful eco-friendly surroundings. The institute has acquired and developed impressive infrastructure, expertise, and resources for imparting high-quality engineering education. The institute runs in two shifts – First/Morning shift and Second/Evening shift providing B.Tech in CSE, IT, ECE and EEE streams.
Teaching Methodology at MSIT
Prof. K. P. Chaudhary, the director of MSIT when questioned about the teaching and the teachers at MSIT said – “The faculty and teachers at MSIT are well qualified and experienced”, he added, “the teaching is very contemporary” providing many opportunities to the students to develop into all-round professionals by keeping a track of ever-changing technologies in the market.
Prof. K. P. Chaudhary specified, “MSIT aims to achieve and excel the high standards set by premier technical institutions of the country”. The traditional classroom teaching complimented by regular tests, tutorials, group discussions, extensive lab work, projects, seminars and industrial exposure through industrial visits and summer courses. Eminent academicians and professionals visit MSIT on a regular basis, to cover the latest in each subject area.
The classroom atmosphere at MSIT is synergetic with interactive and participative sessions; this makes learning proactive and instills in the students a sense of team spirit, responsibility, and professional integrity. Healthy student-faculty bonds are encouraged at MSIT, helping harness the best of both the teaching and the learning.
On the path towards development and learning
Grasping knowledge at MSIT is way beyond any particular blueprint; the vision is to ‘Become the most admired centers of academic excellence’ and MSIT strives towards that day-in and day-out.
To promote the culture of research among faculty and students, the institute has collaboration with various NGOs, industry, and Govt. organizations like DRDO, NPL, etc. The training methods at MSIT are a set of multi-sensory instructions, brainstorming sessions, team teaching methods, peer-to-peer learning, exposure to the state of the art technology, case study, and live projects.
MSIT has well-lit lecture halls, fully furnished labs, staff rooms, fully air-conditioned auditorium and Seminar halls with well-equipped modern audio-visual equipment, to facilitate learning with precision and quality. An Entrepreneurship cell also known as ‘eCell’ exists at MSIT, to provide the entrepreneurial minds with an open platform to gain knowledge about entrepreneurship and startup-ventures. The institute also promotes practical learning by providing facilities like the IEEE student chapter, ISTE student chapter, MHRD Innovation cell, Incubation cell, project lab in every department. MSIT organizes many technical fests, hackathons to promote skill-based practical learning.
Prof. K. P. Chaudhary himself being a co-curricular activity enthusiast stated, “MSIT organizes an annual cultural fest called Genesis”, which attracts a huge number of participants take part in this event, giving students an exposure at State and National levels.
Continuing Maharaja Surajmal’s legacy
Maharaja Surajmal believed that humanity is the only religion of man; he visualized ‘India as one nation’ and devoted his life in forging national integration. He nurtured intellectual vigor that reflects a fusion of our heritage and contemporary insights, and his legacy is still alive at MSIT. The institute provides financial assistance in the form of fee waiver or scholarships to students from economically weaker sections of the society.
The institute has set up a trend to motivate its teaching and non-teaching employees by conferring best faculty award to deserving candidates annually. In-addition the institute organizes the summer training camps for students of rural areas, free of cost to brush up their talents in academic as well as non-academic activities.
MSIT in the near future
The Director is an active participant in the development of MSIT, when asked about the future of MSIT and how they want to go ahead with it, he replied – “MSIT is already one of the leading engineering colleges of North India”, and he also wanted to add that –‘MSIT aims at excelling academically as well as in quality wise’. To realize this objective , Dr. Chaudhary and MSIT are focusing on holistic development of students. To enhance academic excellence, the institute will promote further use of modern technology and tools to deliver lectures, regular pre-placement activities to enable students with their confidence.
