From the Scratch
Ms. Meghna Ghai Puri’s professional journey began at a young age, as she started working in her father’s office and film sets. This early exposure ignited her exploration of various paths and aspirations. While many people encouraged her to enter the film industry and follow in her father’s footsteps as a filmmaker, she chose to embrace her father’s qualities as an educationist and dreamer.
She acquired her BSc. Honours degree in Business Management at King’s College, London and proceeded to refine her abilities with a Post Graduate Diploma in Communications, Advertising & Marketing. After gaining experience in International Distribution & Business Development as well as working for an e-tailing start-up in the UK, she returned to India and aided her father in bringing his vision of a prestigious institute in Mumbai to fruition. This paved the way for the launch of Whistling Woods International (WWI).
Drawing from her diverse work experiences, Ms. Meghna Ghai Puri embarked on her journey in the field of education, specifically in media and entertainment. She firmly believes that the valuable insights gained from her early work life have greatly contributed to the growth and development of Whistling Woods International (WWI). Through her efforts, she has nurtured the institute and positioned it as a leading institution in the media and entertainment industry.

Whistling Woods International (WWI) stands as India’s premier institute for Media and Creative Arts. Since its establishment in 2006, WWI has been delivering exceptional education in various aspects of filmmaking, media, and creative arts, emphasising on both creative and technical expertise. Situated within Mumbai’s Filmcity Complex, the institute provides hands-on instruction in students’ chosen disciplines.
At WWI, a unique and captivating environment is ensured, aiming to help students realise their dreams and challenge conventional norms. Currently, the alumni network boasts over 3500 successful individuals working in the industry.
Also, Whistling Woods International aligns itself with reputed institutes and organisations such as CILECT, Google, Reliance, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), and others to push the envelope of educational advancement. The institute aims to expand its impact by establishing additional campuses within India and internationally in collaboration with governments and like-minded organisations. The goal is to provide vocational training in the field of creative arts and media to students from smaller towns and cities across the country.
With the Mumbai campus well established, Whistling Woods International is actively exploring expansion in terms of programme verticals and campuses. Her dream is to build an institution that fosters and promotes education from age 5 to 50, ensuring every creative individual aspiring to make a mark in the industry has access to the highest quality of education and opportunities for success.

Knowing Meghna Ghai Puri
Ms. Meghna Ghai Puri, reflecting on her upbringing, shares that she grew up in a small family. Her father, a busy filmmaker, became a significant influence in her life, while her mother, a homemaker, encouraged her to pursue a successful career. She closely observed her father’s work in various settings, both in and out of the office, witnessing his creative and entrepreneurial endeavours as he established his own production house. This early exposure to the film industry and observing her father’s interactions with people had a profound impact on her.
The experience taught her valuable lessons about leadership, particularly in the context of a film set. She recognised the importance of empathy and treating everyone with equal respect, from the lowest-ranking crew member to the biggest star. She learned to empathise and step into the shoes of each individual involved in the filmmaking process, understanding the significance of teamwork and the absence of strict hierarchies on a film set. These principles shaped her leadership style, which she carries into her current role.
Ms. Meghna Ghai Puri expresses her passion for her work and the joy she finds in managing Whistling Woods International. However, when she is not working, she cherishes spending time with her teenage children, making an effort to be an engaging and involved mother. Additionally, she shares her practice of Buddhism, which plays a significant role in her life. Engaging in activities related to Buddhism allows her to deepen her spirituality and assist others in their spiritual journeys, providing her with a sense of fulfilment. She finds that incorporating the principles of Buddhism into her personal life and work positively impacts her relationships and overall well-being.
