Union HRD Minister or Education Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal has launched a new alternative academic calendar for classes 6 to 8 which is a continuation of the previous 4-week calendar. On July 2, the HRD minister had released the academic calendar for the primary classes of 1 to 5.
The academic calendar released today which consists of subject-wise directives for eight weeks and detailed guidelines on using social media tools and technology for education is a reference for teachers to continue teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The academic calendar for the upper-primary classes was developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

Ramesh Pokhriyal announced the same on his official Twitter handle.
“Alternative Academic Calendar for upper primary stage (Classes VI to VIII) for four weeks was released earlier. I have launched the academic calendar for the next eight weeks today,” he wrote.
“This Calendar contains detailed guidelines for teachers on the use of technology & social media tools to impart education while the students are at home,” Pokhriyal said.
“The Calendar further aims to empower our students, teachers, school principals & parents with positive ways to deal with #Covid19 via online teaching-learning resources and achieve the best possible learning outcomes,” the Education Minister added.
