Many prominent student groups came together and called for School and College bandh today,on July 12. It was announced as a protest against several issues plaguing the Education sector in the state. However, there is no official confirmation regarding closure of schools from the Chief Minister or State Education Minister. Students and parents are advised to contact the respective schools to know the status of the school closure.
Student unions in Telangana are protesting against several irregularities in the schools including high fee, lack of infrastructure, and more. To be noted that Telangana schools were closed on June 26 after ABVP called for bandh and now the Left Students’ Union (AISF) has decided to protest against the illegal fee exploitation. Protestors claim that government and private schools are not working for the benefit of students and parents, according to student unions like AISF and ABVP. Additionally, they have urged that expensive textbooks be stopped from being sold.
