What is CTET?

CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility Exam. Conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The CTET is an examination taken on the national level that helps evaluate the eligibility of candidates to take up teaching positions in government schools. It is mandatory for candidates to attempt the examination in order to understand their capabilities as teaching personnels. Those wishing to obtain teaching positions in classes in the primary and upper-primary sections of government schools are mandated to attempt the CTET. Their

 CTET Eligibility Criteria 2025

Like every other examination in India, CTET also follows a set of criterias that an individual needs to fit within.

  • There is no upper age limit, but the candidate must be of or above the age of 17 to attempt the examination.
  • The exam is open only to Indian citizens, including individuals who moved into India from Nepal and Bhutan, and those who came from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and Burma with the intention of moving in permanently. Tibetan citizens who moved in before 1962 with the intention of moving in permanently are also eligible to attempt the CTET.
  • A candidate is eligible to attempt the CTET exam if they have obtained 50% marks and passed the senior secondary (or an equivalent) degree.

CTET Exam Pattern 2025

 The CTET includes two tests, paper I and paper II. The first paper is for candidates who wish to achieve teaching positions in classes 1 to 5 and comprises five sections.

Paper II is for individuals aiming for teaching positions in upper primary sections of schools. This paper is an amalgamation of four parts.

An individual can choose to attempt either one, or both the papers, and be eligible for the respective sections.

Each paper has to be taken within the provided exam duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

CTET Syllabus 2025 (Paper I & II)

An individual can score a total of 150 marks on each of the two papers that come together to form the Central Teaching Eligibility Test.

Paper I is divided into five sections of 30 marks each, covering topics of Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies.

Paper II includes four sections. The first three sections are carbon to paper I, being Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I and Language II. Each section carries 30 marks.

How to Apply for CTET 2025?

Step-by-Step Process:

Application Fee: The application fee is 1,000 INR for attempting a single paper. With an additional charge, a candidate can attempt both the papers for 1,800 INR.

Application fee for SC/ST and differently abled individuals is 500 INR for attempting a single paper, and 600 INR for attempting both.

CTET Admit Card & Result

The CTET admit card will be released two to five days prior to the examination. The candidate is required to carry a hardcopy of the same.

The results of CTET 2024 December were released in January,2025. However, there is no solidified date on which the results of upcoming CTET happening in July, 2025 will be released.

Exam preparations can be extremely hectic if one finds themselves unorganised. Following are a few tips that may help and make the training experience a little less taxing.
