Business School of the Year 2021
India is known for its affinity for churning out management professionals by the thousands and has therefore been a playground for scores of institutions claiming to provide the best of the management education. Unfortunately, these graduates lack the necessary skills to make a mark for themselves in the corporate world and so slowly fade away, picking up any and every job that comes their way. Thereby, coming as those guiding lights in these difficult times are b-schools who are working towards shaping futures of today’s students, and serving the society in terms of societal development. Also, despite these b-schools striving hard to convert shy, timid students into tomorrow’s managers, there seems to be something lacking in terms of the policies defined by the government, and thus, the New Education Policy 2020 helps overcome these hurdles, and work for a better tomorrow. Talking to us about how their respective b-schools and institutions are working within the prescribed guidelines laid out the by the NEP 2020, and are still trying to outperform on a daily basis, top personalities from top b-schools gave us insights into how they think NEP 2020 is a welcome move to the education sector of our country.
“We already have started the alignment process to stay in-sync with the NEP 2020, promoting and preaching complete holistic education, with a vaste syllabus and a totally multidisciplinary approach to teaching and learning”, stated Sr. Lalitha, the Principal of the Jyoti Nivas College, talking to us about how their b-school is completely NEP equipped. Also, elaborating on how passionate JNC is towards converting students into trained and able managers of tomorrow, Sr. Lalitha clearly gave us an inside view of how today’s b-schools operate in the pursuit of bettering tomorrow’s many business management aspirants.
Furthermore, considering today’s demands of developing multi-skilled MBA-holders who have knowledge domain and multi-faceted experience in terms of personality and role-handling, Nitte School of Management’s Prof. Venugopal, the director of the business school spoke about NEP and how the b-school is a unique identity on its own. Validating these very points Prof. Venugopal stated – “It goes without saying that business students need personal attention and hands-on training without which they cannot become motivated and learned business managers, which NEP 2020 is a proud example of”.
One more important factor which is being addressed by top b-schools of our country is the ability of maintaining an environment of complete inclusivity, irrespective of the socio-economic backgrounds the student’s come from, and NEP 2020 has clearly addressed this point and asked b-schools across to adapt to the new norms. Thus, telling us how O P Jindal University addresses the new changes and challenges, while quickly making way for the NEP 2020 to surge into the operations of OPJU, Ms. Shallu Jindal, the chancellor of the university stated – “To impart world-class skill development, we have designed a very progressive industry-linked and research-focused curriculum, with inputs from industry experts and academic leaders”.
Consequently, knowing that nothing in the field of education and academics is static and needs to altered, based on the scenarios and circumstances, and NEP 2020 is perhaps that awaited move, the education sector of India was waiting for so long, Dr Tapan, the director of NMIMSs, stated – “Empanelled with top corporates of India, our students find the transition phase from being students to tomorrow’s leaders quite easy”. With the help of the statement Dr Tapan showed us how important industry connect is for a b-school of today and what role do industry experts and alumni play in helping b-schools stay well-in sync with the market demands and trends.
All in all, having read and witnessed top academicians cum educational-leaders give their tit-bits about how today’s b-school functions, we at Academic Insights would like to be called the voice of today’s students.
