In the past, education often prioritized compliance and conformity, skills that were essential for maintaining long-term employment in traditional workplaces. However, today’s students, who think and learn differently, require more dynamic approaches that align with the ever-evolving nature of the workplace, where critical thinking and the ability to utilize information are more valuable than rote memorization.
This is where New Millennium School truly stands out. By constantly identifying and integrating innovative methods and technologies into their curriculum, the school ensures that students not only stay current but also develop the adaptability and problem-solving skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Empowering Students Through Quality Education and Accessible Support
Founded in March 1999 and officially inaugurated on July 27, 2002, New Millennium School adheres to the ICSE syllabus while maintaining a strong emphasis on child-centered, value-based education with solid academic foundations. The school’s mission is to empower every student to achieve their fullest potential within a positive and secure learning environment.
What sets New Millennium School apart in 2024 is its unwavering dedication to offering top-notch academics, sports, and extracurricular and co-curricular programs, all while maintaining affordability. A key initiative this year has been the introduction of free after-school classes in Science and Math, led by professionals. These sessions provide personalized support to both high achievers and students needing extra help, eliminating the need for private tutoring and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to excel.
When reflecting on the school’s accomplishments over the past academic year, Dr. Rajeev Kishen, the Founder-Secretary, highlighted several key achievements. In addition to outstanding ICSE results, the school received overwhelmingly positive feedback from parents, with over 97% rating the school as either “A – Excellent” or “B – Very Good” in twice-yearly surveys. The school also celebrated success in inter-school competitions, particularly in football and throwball, and, most importantly, has maintained a high level of satisfaction among parents and students alike.
Dr. Kishen also pointed out their impressive teacher retention rate, maintaining zero attrition for the past four years, and the addition of 10 new Smart Boards to enhance classroom learning.
A Holistic Approach to Education
New Millennium School prides itself on its dedicated and well-qualified faculty, ensuring personalized attention through a student-teacher ratio capped at thirty-five students per class. The classrooms are thoughtfully designed with modern furniture and spacious layouts to enhance the learning environment.
A key aspect of New Millennium School’s approach is its commitment to a fear-free learning environment, which is supported by high-quality teaching and intensive coaching.
Beyond academics, the school provides a diverse range of activities, including yoga, performing arts, martial arts, and more than 40 co-curricular and extracurricular programs offered throughout the academic year. The school also emphasizes professional sports training, ensuring that athletic opportunities are accessible to every student. With a commitment to fostering holistic excellence and uncovering hidden talents, the school hosts significant events such as Annual Day, Sports Day, and Graduation Day, which enhance the overall student experience.
To integrate innovation into learning, external experts regularly inspect classroom activities to ensure Multiple Intelligences (MI) and Bloom’s Taxonomy are effectively implemented. Interactive White Boards further support student learning by reinforcing key concepts. The school also places a strong focus on the personal and professional development of its faculty, offering staff counseling services and full-time child psychologists to address both teacher and student needs.
Enhancing Student Experiences
When New Millennium School first opened its doors, it organized three field trips annually—one for Primary School and one each for Middle and Senior School. This practice continued until the 2014-15 academic year, when the school shifted to conducting one trip per class per year. Now, however, New Millennium School has significantly expanded its offerings, conducting over 35 field trips annually, averaging about three trips per class, all tailored to the specific syllabus for each grade.
In line with this growth, the school plans to purchase its own bus for field trips this year. Additionally, a new building is set to be constructed, which will include a Music Room, a Home Science Lab, and an Indoor Sports Room.
The school is also looking forward to hosting inter-school friendly matches in basketball, cricket, and football on its playgrounds. While the current extracurricular offerings include a Science Club, an Art and Craft Club, and a Literary Club, the school intends to introduce a Foreign Language Club and a Home Science Club, with meetings scheduled for Saturdays starting this academic year.
Furthermore, dance and martial arts classes have already begun for students in Grades V to VIII, taking place from 3 PM to 4 PM. Looking ahead, New Millennium School plans to host a Science Fest in the coming years and introduce programs such as knitting for girls and carpentry for boys.
