Georgia Becomes a Rising Hub for Indian Medical Students Amid Ukraine Conflict

0

Indian students are increasingly choosing Georgia for their medical education as the war in Ukraine continues into its fourth year. Data reveals a sharp rise in Indian spending on education in Georgia, reaching $50.25 million in 2024–25 under the Reserve Bank of India’s Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS). This marks an almost fivefold increase from $10.33 million in 2018–19, according to information obtained via the RTI Act. The data indicates that much of this growth has come at Ukraine’s expense, as Indian educational remittances to that country have dropped significantly.
