In the rapidly changing world we live in, our country’s young people have demonstrated impressive skills in various technical fields. However, a significant hurdle they face is the lack of basic knowledge and training in entrepreneurship.
Despite graduating from reputable institutions, including ITIs and polytechnics, many struggle to turn their skills into successful businesses.
To address this gap between skill and entrepreneurship, the Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIM) and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) have partnered to introduce a specialized one-year Skill to Enterprise Module (STEM) program for the youth of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The program includes a comprehensive four-week residential training and eight weeks of virtual training. It aims to equip participants with a solid understanding of business management, compliance, finance, planning, and the strategic aspects of running a business. Participants will be selected by experts based on the readiness of their ideas and will receive guidance through industry mentorship and incubation.
Two batches of STEM are scheduled to start on December 4th and December 17th, 2023, at IIM Jammu’s Srinagar and Jammu campuses.
This program is especially beneficial for those who have completed technical courses, possess valuable skills, but lack the resources and knowledge to start their own businesses. It also provides an opportunity for individuals looking to achieve financial independence and make a positive impact on their communities through entrepreneurship. Trained candidates will be connected to financial institutions through credit connect schemes.
