On Wednesday, the Union Education Ministry introduced new recommendations for the structure of School Management Committees (SMCs). According to the guidelines, both the chairperson and vice-chairperson positions should be filled by elected parents or guardians.
Additionally, the ministry proposed that the school’s principal or head serve as the committee’s member secretary. To improve efficiency, the SMC will be divided into two specialized branches – an academic committee and a school building committee.
