A severe cold wave sweeping across multiple regions of India has significantly disrupted educational schedules, with state governments and district administrations implementing school closures, rescheduling classes, and extending winter holidays across affected areas.
Kashmir Valley and Jammu Region: In response to dangerously low temperatures, authorities in the winter zone of Kashmir Valley, including the capital Srinagar—and the adjoining Jammu region have issued revised school vacation schedules. Under the new directive, schools serving students up to Class 8 will remain closed, with reopening scheduled for March 1, 2026, marking an extended winter break period to ensure student and staff safety during the extreme weather conditions.
