On September 10, the Karnataka government and the British Council—the UK’s worldwide organization for educational opportunities and cultural exchange—announced the start of four new initiatives. The newly signed Memorandum of Understanding between Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) and the British Council has led to the establishment of these new programs.

These four new initiatives are the “English Skills for Youth” program, an initiative by the British Council and Microsoft India to empower students in Karnataka Government Engineering Colleges, “Capacity Building Training for International Officers,” and the “Freemium Digital Library Wall” inauguration at Bengaluru City University. The “Scholars for Outstanding Undergraduate Talent (SCOUT) program by GREAT” is for the Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC).

SCOUT programme

In order to participate in the SCOUT program, the KSHEC will choose a cohort of thirty students, comprising two KSHEC officials and five students from each of the following universities: Bengaluru City University, Raichur University, Tumkur University, Raichur University, and Rani Channamma University. The cohort will spend two weeks immersed in learning at the University of East London, from November 9 to 22.
