The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued a stern advisory to institutions cautioning them against refusing admission to students who hold certificates from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The council emphasized that NIOS qualifications are fully valid for pursuing higher and professional education in accordance with national education standards.
Highlighting recent complaints, the AICTE stated that some of its approved higher education institutions have unlawfully denied admission to eligible NIOS students. The regulator underscored that such refusals violate the directives of the National Education Policy (NEP) and infringe upon students’ fundamental rights to access higher education.
The council urged all affiliated institutions to ensure fair admission practices and to recognize NIOS certificates as legitimate qualifications for entry into technical and professional programs.
