India stands among the world’s largest producers of dental graduates, thanks to the presence of nearly 350 operational dental colleges. Yet, despite this rapid expansion, the nation’s dental education landscape faces persistent challenges, ranging from limited infrastructure and an uneven distribution of colleges to a curriculum that sometimes struggles to reflect the latest advances in healthcare. Further compounding these issues are a shortage of experienced faculty members and an imbalanced student-to-teacher ratio, both of which can limit the quality of dental education delivered.

Amidst these sector-wide hurdles, the determination to stay aligned with cutting-edge dental science and ongoing curriculum updates differentiates select institutions. One such standout is MGV’s Karmaveer Bhausaheb Dental College and Hospital, an institution operating in Nashik, Maharashtra, under the Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir trust since 1991. For over three decades, KBH Dental College has remained dedicated to nurturing future dental professionals and advancing academic excellence. Its steadfast commitment has made a tangible difference in the careers of countless students.

Recognizing this impactful legacy, The Academic Insights Education Excellence Awards 2025 is proud to honor MGV’s Karmaveer Bhausaheb Dental College and Hospital with the title of India’s Top Dental College of the Year 2025.

MGV’s KBH Dental College and Hospital embodies a profound commitment to community engagement, seamlessly aligning with its guiding principle, “Bahujana Hitaya, Bahujana Sukhaya”. The institution dedicates itself to addressing oral healthcare needs among underprivileged and underserved populations through comprehensive outreach initiatives.

The college’s extensive extension activities include oral health awareness drives, school healthcare programs, and screening and treatment camps. It organizes blood donation and food donation drives while providing training for school teachers and Anganwadi workers across Nashik District.

The college has also adopted ten villages, among which five are rural and five are Adivasi tribal areas, offering routine dental screenings, treatments, health education, and follow-up care.

Demonstrating further social responsibility, the institution regularly holds dental camps for Central Jail inmates and supports the Muk Badhir Vidyalaya and the National Federation for the Blind in Nashik. Its School Health education campaigns entail dental caries screenings, oral hygiene instruction, and participation in the National Oral Health Program’s Pit and Fissure Sealant Pilot Project in collaboration with Mumbai’s Directorate of Health Services.

Through such initiatives, MGV’s KBH Dental College bridges academic dentistry with community welfare, ensuring quality oral healthcare education and services extend to the most marginalized sections of society.
