A distinguished Botany Ph.D. from Karnatak University, Dharwad, where he specialized in the taxonomical study of algae, Dr. Yashovarma devoted over three decades to SDM College, Ujire. He began his journey as a lecturer before serving as Principal from 1993 to 2015, a tenure defined by unprecedented growth. Under his leadership, the institution achieved three consecutive NAAC ‘A’ grades, was recognized by the UGC as a “College with Potential for Excellence,” and received the FJEI National Award for Best College. Importantly, Dr. Yashovarma pioneered the transformative “True Education” program, a pedagogical shift designed to move beyond rote learning.
Elevated to Secretary of the SDM Educational Society post-retirement, he provided visionary oversight across its 56 institutions. Beyond administration, he was a pillar of the community, serving as the President of the Belthangady Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat and a prominent leader in the Rotary Club and Jain Milan.
