In a pioneering move for primary education, Rajasthan has launched ‘Khushishala,’ a structured mental health and well-being initiative across approximately 1,500 government schools. Officials report that Rajasthan is the first state in India to introduce a dedicated program of this nature.
Implemented by the Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research and Training (RSCERT), the initiative is designed for students in Classes 1 to 5. It utilizes activity-based learning to foster emotional well-being, social development, and essential life skills.
According to RSCERT Director Shweta Fagediya, ‘Khushishala’ also features specialized mental health and capacity-building training for educators, equipping them with the tools to effectively understand and support their students’ emotional needs.
