Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Monday that students belonging to Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Scheduled Caste (SC) communities will be exempted from paying any fees at the time of admission into government medical and engineering colleges.
This directive came after Majhi was informed that numerous deserving SC and ST students, despite clearing challenging entrance examinations, were struggling financially during the admission process, according to an official statement.
“To solve this problem, CM Majhi has directed that students belonging to ST and SC communities will not have to pay any fees at the time of admission, and for a period of six months after admission,” the statement noted.
