Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Department has rescheduled both attempts of the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) for engineering and pharmacy courses. Both attempts will now be held after the Class 12 board examinations.

For the current academic year, the two attempts were originally planned for December 2026 and April 2027. According to officials familiar with the matter, both will now take place between March and May, following feedback from parents, counsellors and educationists.

The state introduced the two-attempt format in November 2025 to align the CET with national entrance examinations such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). It aims to ease academic pressure on students by giving them a second chance to improve their scores.
