CBSE Releases Marking Scheme For 10, 12 Board Exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has published the marking scheme for Class 10 and 12 board exams, encompassing both theory and practical components. Each subject is allocated a maximum of 100 marks, distributed among theory, practical, project, and internal assessment elements.

The board emphasized the necessity of introducing the marking scheme, stating, “It has come to our attention that schools have been making errors while uploading marks for practical/project/internal assessment. To support and guide schools in effectively administering these assessments and conducting theory examinations, a comprehensive list of subjects for classes 10 and 12, along with detailed information, is provided in the attached circular.”

The marking scheme is provided for 83 subjects in Class 10 and 121 subjects in Class 12.

For Class 10, practical exam marks in subjects like Music, Painting, Computer, Retail, Information Technology, Security, Introduction to Financial Markets, Healthcare, and Multimedia are set at 50. Internal assessment marks for subjects such as English, Hindi, Math, Science, and Social Science amount to 20.

In Class 12, practical marks in subjects like Geography, Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Physical Education, and others are set at 30. For subjects like Painting, Graphics, Sculpture, Commercial Art, Dance, Home Science, among others, practical marks are 50.
