One‑Subject Lifeline: WBCHSE Opens June 28 Window for HS Re‑takes

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has invoked Regulation 9(2)—a rule that lets students who have failed one compulsory subject but passed an elective swap the elective’s marks to clear their Higher Secondary (Class 12) result. While this swap secures a pass certificate, many students targeting professional courses still prefer to master the failed subject. To help them, WBCHSE has opened a special “result‑surrender” portal that allows these candidates to reappear in the failed paper; applications (with supporting documents routed through schools) must be filed by 28 June 2025. Missing the deadline means waiting an entire year, so officials urge timely submission.
