“The program is formatted such that apart from the classroom didactic lectures, students spend a substantial amount of their learning time in various healthcare delivery related setups where they get the experience of actual hands-on practical training”, stated – Dr. Yeravdekar, telling us how important learning outside the classroom is during the 2-years of the program. Also, throwing light on how competitive the program is, he added – “Students will be evaluated throughout the two years of the program by periodic tests as well as assignments, while also considering the student’s contribution to classroom discussions, written reports, and other assignments”. Through the conversation, we also learned that students are evaluated by means of continuous ongoing internal evaluations, by the onboard faculty members, who guide them on every decision they make and ensure good mental health throughout.

Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar – Director
A Recipient of the National Merit Scholarship, Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar graduated from the prestigious B. J. Medical College, Pune in 1985, securing top honors in General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology. He completed his Masters in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 1989 & was awarded the Gold Medal by Pune University for his outstanding academic performance. He has completed his Ph.D. from University of Pune and has topped the list of successful candidates of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission and joined the B. J. Medical College & Sassoon General Hospitals, Pune as faculty in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Family Welfare. He was invited by the Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman from 1992–1996, where his work was highly appreciated. On completion of this assignment, Dr. Rajiv conceptualized & set up the Symbiosis Centre of Health Care (SCHC), the healthcare unit for the staff & students of the Symbiosis family.
