According to sources cited by news agency PTI on Friday, the Education Ministry has requested that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) arrange the logistics of holding board examinations twice a year starting in the 2025–2026 academic year.
The article stated that the idea to introduce a semester system has been ruled out and that the move intends to provide students additional possibilities and rewards and to make the board examinations less stressful.
The article further stated that in order to conduct board examinations twice a year, the education government and the CBSE will meet with school principals in May.
