Amid intensifying public scrutiny and online criticism regarding its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a status update to address concerns over evaluation accuracy and processing delays.
Critics have highlighted significant flaws in the digital marking process, citing instances of skipped pages, missed step-marking, and even mixed-up answer scripts that have compromised the efficiency the system was designed to provide.
Key Figures from the May 26 Status Bulletin
The board provided a snapshot of the massive volume of requests currently being processed:
- Applications Received: 404,319 students have applied for scanned copies of their evaluated scripts.
- Total Scripts Requested: A staggering 1,131,961 answer books across various Class 12 subjects.
- Progress Update: CBSE confirmed it has already digitally delivered nearly 9 lakh answer books to students to date.
While the board is working through the backlog, the sheer volume of disputes highlights a growing tension between the board’s digital transition and students’ expectations for grading precision.
