The Central Government has introduced a new evaluation framework for private CBSE Class 12 students whose board exams were disrupted in Gulf countries due to the recent regional conflict between Iran and the US.
During a Supreme Court hearing on Monday, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing both the Centre and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), informed a bench comprising Justices S.V.N. Bhatti and Vipul M. Pancholi that a uniform, all-India policy has been established to protect the interests of these affected students.
The new assessment policy, officially notified on June 21, features a unique formula designed specifically for private candidates. For any subjects where exams could not be conducted, a student’s final marks will be calculated by factoring in two main components:
- Their performance in Class 10 board exams.
- Their performance in their most recent Class 12 board exam attempt.
This targeted approach aims to provide a fair and standardized alternative for students navigating academic disruptions caused by the sudden cancellation of exams abroad.
