Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Medical Trust, established in 1979 under the guidance of Poojya Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, was founded with the vision of delivering quality medical services at an affordable cost. Over the years, the Trust has grown into a model institution dedicated to community well-being. Currently the Trust runs hospitals, medical colleges, research centers, and world-class laboratories across Karnataka, continuously adapting to advancements in medical science and technology.
- SDM Mobile Clinics were a first pioneering initiative of the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Medical Trust to bring essential healthcare to remote villages. These mobile units, equipped with doctors, nurses, medicines, and basic diagnostic tools, travelled deep into rural areas where medical facilities were scarce. The team often stayed in villages for days, offering free consultations, maternal and child care, primary treatment, and health awareness programs.
- The TB Sanatorium at Ujire, which served the community for more than 40 years, was later transformed into a dedicated De-Addiction Center after tuberculosis cases declined in the region.
