Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Monday that a special Assembly session will convene on Wednesday to introduce and clear a bill enabling “experienced teachers” from a state university to be moved “urgently” to a newly established university.
The proposed legislation has raised alarm among senior academics, who worry that once it becomes law, the government could use it to freely reassign teachers who have spent years building their reputation on a particular campus — particularly those viewed as vocal critics of the ruling government.
