In an effort to stop cheating and anomalies in competitive exams, the Center has put into effect a strict new rule that imposes fines and jail terms of up to Rs 1 crore and up to 10 years for violators. The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, received presidential assent about four months ago. Late on Friday night, the Personnel Ministry announced that the law’s provisions will take effect on June 21.
