The VES Management Alumni Association (VESMAA) is the proud association of Master of Management Studies (MMS) graduates at Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Management Studies & Research (VESIM). With over 4,500 members, VESMAA aims to uphold a strong bond between the institution and its alumni while encouraging a culture of collaboration, growth, and giving back. Registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, the association serves as a vital interface between alumni and the institute, contributing significantly to VESIM’s legacy.
Objectives and Mission
The Alumni Cell, in collaboration with VESMAA, is guided by a mission to:
- Promote VESIM’s educational initiatives
- Encourage student–alumni engagement
- Cultivate a spirit of loyalty and pride towards the institute
- Strengthen the bond among past, present, and incoming students
- Reinforce industry–institute relationships for the holistic development of students
Structured Mentorship and Engagement
Among the flagship initiatives is the Alumni Mentorship Program, which pairs first and second-year students with experienced alumni mentors across industries. This personalized mentoring provides valuable guidance on academic focus, soft skill development, internships, and career strategies. It not only helps students navigate their academic journey with clarity but also enables alumni to contribute meaningfully to shaping future professionals.
Enriching Learning Through Alumni Guest Lectures
The VESIM’s Alumni Cell organizes a series of Guest Lectures throughout the academic year, featuring accomplished alumni from various fields. These lectures serve as a bridge between classroom theories and real-world industry practices. Alumni share their professional journeys, challenges, and domain-specific insights, enriching the curriculum and sparking discussions that extend beyond textbooks.
Career Preparedness: Mock GDPI and Interview Training
In collaboration with alumni recruiters and professionals, the Cell conducts Mock GDPI (Group Discussion and Personal Interview) sessions to prepare final-year students for placements. These workshops replicate real selection scenarios and provide constructive feedback, helping students enhance communication, confidence, and presentation skills—critical for successful corporate placements.
Internship Support and Career Advisory
Many alumni play a direct role in facilitating internship placements for current students by referring them to organizations within their networks or by offering roles within their own firms. In addition, career guidance seminars led by alumni cover diverse areas such as specialization selection, entrepreneurship, international education, and preparing for competitive exams. These sessions empower students to make informed and confident career decisions.
Fostering Informal Bonds Through Events
To encourage informal engagement and camaraderie, the VEISM’s Alumni Cell hosts an annual Alumni Sports Day, which includes a range of recreational and athletic activities. This event enables alumni and students to connect beyond formal settings, building deeper personal and professional relationships.
Communication Through Publications
The Cell ensures continuous engagement through publications like Alumni ECHO, an annual magazine that features alumni stories, interviews, and industry insights. It also publishes Vrittant, the annual alumni newsletter that highlights achievements, events, and institute updates, thereby keeping alumni well-informed and connected.
FETE – The Grand Alumni Reunion
One of the most anticipated events is the annual alumni get-together, FETE a celebration of unity, nostalgia, and fellowship. With vibrant cultural performances, interactive games, and a gala dinner, FETE brings together alumni from various batches in a joyous and memorable atmosphere.
Empowering VESIM Students with Alumni Support
Through a variety of well-curated initiatives, the VESIM’s Alumni Cell has established itself as a bridge of trust, mentorship, and opportunity between alumni and the current student body. By serving as mentors, recruiters, guest speakers, and advisors, VESIM alumni contribute immensely to the academic, professional, and personal development of first and second year students. Their guidance, support, and industry exposure not only enhance employability and confidence among students but also strengthen the institutional culture of collaboration and excellence.
