The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B) has signed an agreement with the Software Development Institute of the Indian Air Force (SDI, IAF) to collaborate on research, design, and development of waveform technology. This partnership is an important step toward strengthening India’s self-reliance in critical defence technology.
Under this collaboration, IIIT-B will lead the technical research and development, while SDI-IAF will sponsor the project. IIIT-B will also provide resources and support to ensure the project meets high standards of reliability and certification.
Dr. Prem Singh, Lead Principal Investigator of the R&D team, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “This collaboration with the Indian Air Force reflects IIIT-B’s expertise in research and innovation. By advancing defence technology, we are contributing to India’s goal of achieving self-reliance in secure communication systems.”
Dr. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-B, expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, “We are honored by the trust placed in us by the Indian Air Force. This agreement not only strengthens our engagement with the defence sector but also reinforces our commitment to innovation for national security. We look forward to using our expertise to develop solutions that meet the country’s strategic needs.”
Air Vice Marshal Raman Guruhari, Commandant of SDI, emphasized the importance of self-reliance in defence, stating, “The Indian Air Force is committed to reducing dependence on foreign equipment. Collaborating with academic institutions like IIIT-B is a crucial step in our journey toward technological self-sufficiency. We aim to turn these efforts into real-world applications that strengthen our nation’s defence capabilities.”
This agreement further establishes IIIT-B as a key player in defence technology research and opens doors for future collaborations, reinforcing India’s efforts in indigenous technological advancements.
