The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has launched the Mehta Family Centre for Engineering in Medicine (MFCEM) to facilitate breakthroughs in biomedical engineering innovations. The centre has been set up with the support of Rahul Mehta of the Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation (MFF). A two-day inaugural symposium was also held during the launch of the centre.
The symposium, as per an IIT Kanpur statement, discussed nano-medicine and genome editing-based approaches for disease therapies, and application of digital medicine in decoding how the brain gets reprogrammed under diseased conditions such as Alzheimer’s, among others.
The research symposium featured compelling presentations from prominent global experts in three primary research areas at MFCEM comprising molecular medicine, regenerative medicine and digital medicine.
The symposium also provided a platform for students to showcase their research work across the three focus areas of MFCEM through lightning talks, posters and interactions with the distinguished speakers.
