On Sunday, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Minister Marc Miller affirmed that new guidelines for the International Student Program are now in force. For overseas students who work off campus, the rules include updated working hours. Eligible students can now work up to 24 hours a week outside of campus during class hours, as was proposed earlier this year.

Before switching educational institutions, overseas students must also apply for and be approved for a new study permit.

According to the minister, these modifications are in line with initiatives to improve the International Student Program’s integrity.
