The Karnataka government has shared an updated notice with regard to the primary and high school teachers’ recruitment. The revised announcement was made keeping in mind the need to preserve student-teacher ratios in elementary and secondary schools. The number of teacher posts in Karnataka has increased by 988 seats. This addition has been made to high school teaching positions, bringing the total number of teacher positions from 43,353 to 44,341. However, the 1,88,532 primary school teaching positions remain unchanged, as per a report by The Hindu.
Reportedly, following the revised notification, some posts for primary school teachers in Bengaluru and Mysuru divisions were reduced after reshuffling existing posts across four divisions.
The Kalaburagi division (Kalyana Karnataka area) received 574 new high school and primary school posts as a result of the updated notification. The Hindu report mentions that Nalin Atul, the former Additional Commissioner of Public Instructions for the Kalaburagi Division, had written to the Principal Secretary for the Department of Primary and Secondary Education requesting that the sanctioned teaching positions that were vacant in other divisions be transferred to the Kalaburagi division. The existing 45,117 postings for primary school teachers in Kalaburagi division have been increased to 45,431 posts, and the existing 11,420 posts for high school teachers have been extended from to 11,680 posts, claims the report.
